Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
Development and implementation of programs that enhance student academic success and a holistic approach to the health and well-being of the student.
Develop and implement functional early academic alerts in the retention process.
Collaboratively works with administrators, faculty, and staff to identify students who become distressed by external challenges and troubling circumstances and develop strategies to get them back on their academic track.
Maintain routine communications with students to ensure the effectiveness of academic programs.
Follow policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality of communications, records and files.
Maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
Assist with facilitating student requests for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accommodations.
Create assessment tools to track student performance and provide data analysis for continuous academic improvements for outcomes assessment.
Develop and implement strategies and activities for Student Support Services that focus on improving outcomes assessment (retention rates, standardized examinations, course completion, the graduation license examination, graduation rates, employment rates, and alumni feedback).
The Director also assists in compiling and reporting data for reports, and offers workshops, lectures and presentations to faculty, staff and students centered on academic success.
Perform other duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, or closely related field.
A Master’s degree in counseling, higher education, college student services, or related field is preferred.
Preference is given to candidates with additional two to three years of experience working in higher education, and with students of diverse backgrounds.
Must have the ability to or experience in the development and creation of innovative student services programs.
Must have an understanding of student development with competency and knowledgeable of student development theories.
Must be able to deliver quality customer service in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
Must have the ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize projects as needed.
Must be able to work in a team environment with faculty, staff, administrators, and student leaders, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be proficient in all Microsoft office applications, and competent in internet applications
Must be proficient in written English
