Senior Director - Executive Events



Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Utah Valley University invites applicants for the position of Sr. Director - Executive Events. UVU is an open-access, comprehensive, teaching-focused, public university of approximately 41,000 students in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. We are seeking a highly motivated, talented, and personable leader who can be a part of the University community in working with a collaborative administrative team and engaged faculty and staff to advance the Development efforts of the University and to support the mission and core themes of the University.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Strategic Engagement, in collaboration with the President's Office, the primary role of the Senior Director of Executive Events is to support the mission of the university by coordinating engaging and meaningful experiences for donors, alumni, government leaders, community members , and other members of the UVU community. This position has responsibility for all signature executive events affiliated with Institutional Advancement, the Office of the President, community partnered events. Other responsibilities include oversight of all executive events, managing both the President/campus events team and the IA Executive Events team, ensuring that events maintain a quality standard, and to provide guidance/consultation in the production of other high-visibility functions. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a masters degree in a directly related field, plus four years of experience related to the Summary of Duties of the position or Bachelors degree in a directly related field, plus six years related to the Summary of Duties of the position or any combination of higher education and/or experience totaling ten years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience in strategic planning, business modeling, and proposal development.
    • Strong proficiency with all features of event planning, marketing, and production from inception to post-event assessment (including but not restricted to, budgeting, physical layout, invitation list development, RSVPtracking, seating management, program development and scheduling, ticketing, marketing, promotion, catering, audiovisual services, special needs, event or speaker security).



  • A strong commitment and demonstrated understanding of how to build, manage, and lead a team providing direction and mentorship.
  • Experience with soliciting and managing event sponsorships.
  • Experience with coordination of events in a complex organization.
  • Familiarity with donor development strategy and stewardship. Proficiency in office productivity software, including Microsoft Office. Proficiency with event vendor negotiation and contracting.

 

  • Familiarity with social networking culture, software, and strategies.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills. Skills in public relations and marketing. Experience and skills with public speaking.
  • Experience with team building and cultivation.
  • Connecting campus event leaders.
  • Understanding of and knowledge of event production.

Pay Range: $86,681 - $108,351
