The Center for STEM Diversity (CSD) is a part of the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion, housed with seven cultural identity-base centers (Africana Center, LGBT Center, Women's Center, Latinx Center, Asian American Center, and the First Center). The CSD serves as the umbrella organization for programs and resources that support diversity and inclusion in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) for students, faculty, and staff in the School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences.
What You'll Do
The Director for the Center for STEM Diversity provides advanced subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, supervise and evaluate the center’s programs and initiatives that focus on the underrepresentation of students who identify as women, African American, Latino, Native American, and/or LGBTQ in STEM. For example, the Director will guide and advise staff concerning undergraduate student engagement in the center’s flagship programs, the Bridge to Engineering Success at Tufts (BEST), STEM Ambassadors and Reimagining the Image of Science and Engineering (RISE). The Director will also play a central role in building support for science and engineering graduate students, as well as AS&E faculty engagement. The individual will lead the development of center goals and strategies and the design of data management and reporting systems. They will manage program/project financial, operational, and human resources, while overseeing fundraising efforts in the form of seeking funding opportunities and writing grant proposals for continued or new funding. The individual will also contribute to furthering external relations, in addition to supporting the development of and engagement with the external advisory board. The CSD Director will also work within the Division of Student Diversity and Inclusion (DSDI) and collaborate with the diversity center staff and faculty to develop initiatives and programing that will support student academic success. The CSD Director will also partner with the Associate Deans of Diversity and Inclusion (ADDIs) of the Schools of Engineering and Arts and Sciences, as well as others, on diversity and inclusion efforts.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in related discipline and 8-10 years of program or project management experience OR PhD and 5+ years' experience.
- PhD in a related field of study.
