Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vice President of Business Affairs/Chief Financial Officer (VPBA/CFO), the incumbent will:

Prepare  accurate and timely monthly  and annual  comparative  accrual  basis financial  statements, including variance analysis, cash flow statements, and cash flow projections
Coordinate  audits by independent  auditors, including  the financial statements  audit, A-133 audits, and other audits as required
Provide requested financial reports to the External and Internal Auditors
Coordinate the preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns including Form 990, Form 990-T, State Franchise taxes, etc.
Ensure that employee payrolls are made on a timely basis and withholdings  are deposited with the appropriate agencies within the required deadlines
Devise and implement policies and procedures to safeguard the assets of the University and ensure colleagues have a thorough understanding of these policies and procedures
Ensure staff members receive sufficient training to perform their essential job duties
Keep the VPBA/CFO informed on matters affecting the University’s operations
Develop a Financial Dashboard that is updated monthly
Consult with the Deans and Department/Unit Heads on accounting and reporting issues
Support modernization projects
Prepare and direct the preparation of annual reports and Ad Hoc endowment  financial reports on a timely basis

Director of Financial Services and Cost Management

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in Accounting
Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CMA, and/or an MBA
Seven years of supervisory experience as a Controller and or Director/Manager of Accounting
Excellent analytical, written, and communication skills
Hands-on manager, capable of motivating and training staff
Ability to work both independently and within a collegial team environment

Salary:
Commensurate with education, training, and experience

Additional Position Information:

Preferred experience in college and university accounting for private and/or public institutions
Ellucian Colleague experience desired
This position may require weekends and after normal work hours to perform job responsibilities
This position will require limited travel
This position is not through restricted funding
This is not a temporary position
