Director of Research Compliance and Regulatory Programs

Kean University is on the path to being designated as an R2 Research University. We recently hired a new Vice President for Research who is restructuring the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). During this exciting time of transition, an important addition to the team will be an inaugural Director of Research Compliance and Regulatory Programs.

Reporting to the Vice President for Research, the Director of Research Compliance and Regulatory Programs (Director 2) ensures compliance with federal, state and University regulatory requirements related to research activities and supervises the Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects (IRB). The Director provides leadership and oversight in maintaining a compliance infrastructure for research integrity; develops and implements effective educational programs that enhance the responsible conduct of research; and does related work as required. This position requires a flexible schedule and may include some evening or weekend hours. Some travel may also be required.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of four years of professional experience working in a research compliance environment in higher education or a related field is required. A Juris Doctor; at least five years of experience; and Certified IRB Professional (CIP) is preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of federal rules and regulations regarding human subject protections and biosafety in a higher education setting or a related field; experience conducting training or educational workshops in an academic setting or a related field; and computing proficiency, including the ability to create and manage databases. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
