Overview
The Tufts University Advancement Division is dedicated to supporting the mission of Tufts by strengthening relationships that inspire loyalty and support for Tufts. Advancement is fully in service to the academic agenda of the university and works in close collaboration with the President, Provost, and Deans and academic leadership to ensure that the university’s teaching and research missions receive the support of alumni, parents, friends, and organizations.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Director of Development, University Initiatives, the Associate Director of Development will participate in a broad-based, university-wide program to qualify, and eventually cultivate and solicit high-end annual and major gift prospects. This “University Gift Officer” will be part of a team of development professionals capable of articulating the broad vision and priorities of the university.
The Associate Director will manage a qualification portfolio consisting of 150 individuals (alumni, parents and friends) identified by the Department of Prospect Development and through other leads as possible gift prospects. S/he will be charged with scheduling face-to-face meetings and visiting prospects in select regions throughout the country, with the objective of qualifying individuals as fundraising prospects for the campaign. S/he will document all meeting outcomes in the Tufts database, and working with the Director and other senior staff members in the division and determine the appropriate next steps for each individual.
The Associate Director will collaborate with colleagues working in major gifts, annual giving, and planned giving across all of Tufts’ schools to assess appropriate cultivation strategies for qualified prospects. S/he will work independently, as well as with fundraising volunteers or Advancement colleagues to further cultivate and solicit qualified prospects. The Associate Director will be expected to contribute to the successful achievement of the University's campaign goal by qualifying and disqualifying new prospects, and by securing leadership annual gifts of $10,000 or more, as well as endowment and capital gifts in the range of $100,000 to $500,000.
