Facilities Planning Manager
WORK LOCATION: LSU Agricultural Center, Department of Facilities Planning, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This position reports to the Director of Facilities Planning. This department oversees the planning, construction, maintenance, improvement, and protection of all of the AgCenter’s property and facilities statewide. This includes: long range planning and master site planning for the AgCenter, administration of design services and project management for all construction/renovation projects. Department represents AgCenter interest and provides design guidance and project management for Capital Outlay projects and with outside design firms of projects, provides administrative support for the AgCenter’s research and extension programs, and develops and maintains design standards as it relates to AgCenter facilities. The department also oversees the Safety and Risk Management Programs for the LSU AgCenter. This involves developing and maintaining procedures to reduce the chances of loss to AgCenter employees, property, and equipment. This position will provide management support for these functions and may require some statewide travel.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position performs complex, often specialized, professional/paraprofessional duties which require independent judgment for administrative, management and support functions for the Office of Facilities Planning of the LSU Agricultural Center and serves as principal Assistant to the Director. Administrative and management functions performed include overall business manager, administration and coordination of construction contracts, purchasing/procurement, real property inventory, property control, accounting, budget, and project management activities. Ensures applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are followed. Develops and implements appropriate QA/QC procedures as necessary. Serves as liaison with campus departments and research station offices. Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities Planning.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Project/Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, or related field, plus 2 years related experience. Other degrees may be accepted if combined with a minimum of 3 years’ experience directly related to position duties such as facility administration/management, construction procurement, etc. Desire experience involving facility administration/management, and construction management/procurement; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and a working knowledge of current applicable state procurement law. Must have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
