In close collaboration with the Director of Communication and Marketing, Office of the Provost (OOP), the Assistant Director of Communication and Marketing will contribute to the development and management of strategic and tactical communication and marketing efforts throughout the Office of the Provost and its reporting units. The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that OOP initiatives and promotional materials are successfully communicated and that they properly align with and help advance Villanova's academic enterprise and the University's strategic priorities. This position particularly supports the marketing communication function by managing a wide range of projects, including website content for key OOP areas, writing and editing copy, and ensuring that key messages are effectively communicated through a variety of channels such as web, email, print, social media, video and audio. Along with the Director, this individual collaborates with OOP leadership and other stakeholders to assess, identify and develop opportunities that enhance Villanova's academic reputation and support the University's mission and strategic goals. The individual selected must have the ability to handle a wide variety of projects in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment and be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as the demands of the job dictate.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Communication and Marketing, OOP, the Assistant Director develops and executes strategic and tactical communication and marketing plans for OOP and various OOP reporting units to effectively communicate and promote the institutions identity, key messages, strategic priorities and value proposition.
Establishes and maintains overall excellence and consistency of the OOP communication and marketing efforts by successfully managing a wide range of projects such as creating website content for key areas, writing and editing copy, and ensuring that specific unit messages, along with the overall academic messages, are effectively communicated to constituencies on multiple platforms and through a variety of channels that include print, web, social media, video and audio.
Serves as a resource to the Director of Communication and Marketing, OOP, and the UCM leadership team in the production, distribution and communication of integrated communication and marketing materials such as email, web, print publications and video to ensure that the messages properly align withand help to advancethe Universitys and the OOPs key messages and strategic objectives. Assures successful implementation, coordination and project completion to meet deadlines and goals.
Contributes to the advancement of Villanovas academic reputation, recognition and prestige by researching current communication/marketing trends, benchmarking against other institutions, and then communicating findings and recommendations to the OOP and UCM leadership teams. Provides communication/marketing support for other University Communication and Marketing projects as assigned.
Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, journalism or a related discipline is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.
The individual selected must have a broad working knowledge of the communication and marketing function, website management and electronic communications, including social media. Must have a proven record of developing, executing and assessing strategic and tactical communication and plans. Must be highly proficient in all standard computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
The individual selected must have 4+ years of professional writing, research and project management experience, preferably within a higher education or equally sophisticated non-profit environment.
The individual selected must be a team player with strong writing, research, interpersonal, organizational and planning skills. Must have strong information technology skills, especially web technology. Also, this individual must be flexible, upbeat, energetic self-starter who enjoys collaboration with a wide variety of constituencies. Must have strong communication skills with the ability to maintain excellent internal/external relationships. This individual must be able to work independently as well as with others and handle situations with diplomacy and tact. Must have the ability to handle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. The individual selected must have a deep commitment to the well-being of the University, a commitment to the Universitys Catholic/Augustinian heritage, the advancement of its mission and to serving the needs of a diverse community.
Personal computers, copiers and other standard office equipment knowledge required.
Experience with Adobe Experience Manager is preferred.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends and possibly holidays as the demands of the job dictate.
