Overview
Positions in Career Services provide comprehensive career development assistance to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni from Tufts University. Services include individual career advising, drop-in hours, online resources, workshops, graduate school advising, career and intern fairs, networking and presentations with alumni and employers, job and internship search assistance, and online job and internship listings. Professionals in Career Services work closely with recruiters/employers to arrange information sessions, resume collections and interviews with Tufts graduates.
What You'll Do
The Assistant Director will provide career advice to master’s and PhD students in the School of Engineering (SOE) with a focus on the new SOE Graduate Co-op program for master’s students. They will work with students in all phases of career development, including interviewing and job search skills, networking, resume and cover letter writing, and related skills identifying career interests/skills/values. They will develop new and maintain ongoing partnerships with employers in collaboration with the Career Center Employer Relations team. The Asst. Director will also partner with relevant stakeholders across the university to ensure effective development and strategies to leverage our students’ expertise. The Asst. Director will guide students through their career development, co-op experiences, and experiential learning. They will coach students by developing and delivering an effective teaching and coaching program, including a course for graduate co-op students. The Asst. Director will coach students through group and individual meetings in person and via Zoom.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience typically acquired by a Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of directly related professional experience
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Demonstrated experience in new program development including marketing
- Demonstrated experience in project management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in related field of study strongly preferred.
- Direct experience with cooperative education or a similar form of experiential education preferred
- Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills preferred
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively in a team, as well as independently preferred
- Strong understanding of Tufts SOE graduate student population and Engineering disciplines represented in co-op, and related career opportunities in academic areas is preferred.
- Experience working with International Students strongly preferred.
Pay Range
Minimum $57,900.00, Midpoint $72,450.00, Maximum $87,000.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
