Tufts University’s University College (UC) is dedicated to programming that meets the educational needs of learners, wherever they are on their learning journey. Today, UC’s programmatic areas include Tufts Professional & Custom Education Programs, Tufts Pre-College Programs, and Tufts Lifelong Learning & Osher Institute. UC has grown quickly since its inception in November 2018 and is poised for substantial medium-term growth with the incorporation of degree and certificate programs through which it hopes to significantly expand access to Tufts’ world-class education. The Associate Dean oversees academic and student affairs for University College’s year-round offerings, developing, reviewing, and implementing academic policies for all of programs as they pertain to both students and instructors. Working closely with the Directors of Pre-College Programs, Lifelong Learning, Marketing, and Professional & Custom Education, and the UC Faculty, leads academic oversight and assessment of existing and new programs, including curricular design, admissions decisions, faculty and instructional hiring, and student affairs issues (petitions, Office of Equal Opportunity, advising, accessibility, and health concerns). Responsible for active problem-solving and helping to drive University College growth, including new degree and certificate programs. Engages with the rest of the unit as a team player, ready to help and put in extra time and effort where needed, and work towards the greater good of the University as a whole. Represents UC in a range of university-wide committees dealing with academic issues impacting students and instructors, proactively supporting the Dean in coordinating with the UC Faculty, and serves on the Tufts Cabinet for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
