Under general supervision, this employee performs highly complex duties that require independent judgment and initiative, an extensive knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, and a working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Education and Experience Preferred
Prior work experience performing clerical tasks.
College course work, accounting course work is preferred.
Proven knowledge of ERP and Microsoft Office systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface with internal and external customers.
This position requires confidentiality, accuracy, attention to detail, deadline-oriented, time management, and general math skills.

The person in this position must have skill in dealing with others in one-on-on work relationships or groups. Work activities are initiated by the Accounting Associates, Accounting Specialists, Deputy Controller, Controller, various campus departments, external customers, and internal and external auditors.
For many people, this position will create a first impression of the Controller’s Office and may be their primary or sole contact. Professionalism, accuracy and timeliness are of primary importance. Lack of professionalism damages the institution’s image. Lack of accuracy could result in serious financial errors. Failure to perform the work in timely fashion could cost the university valuable resources, or create other problems for faculty, staff, or students.
