Primary Function
To meet NIU’s enrollment goals, using data driven decision making, the Associate Director of Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships creates, implements, and monitors a multi-year plan for the recruitment and yield of undergraduate students in existing and new markets. The position directly supports Admission Counselors in the development, execution, and monitoring of individual territory management plans, while also providing leadership and support to the admission application review process.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)
The Associate Director of Recruitment and Strategic Partnerships provides leadership within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions toward executing recruitment and yield strategies in new and under-performing markets. This includes identifying market opportunities by analyzing and assessing data and trends, cultivating and leveraging relationships to achieve enrollment goals, and advising the Director of Admissions on strategies to recruit target populations, which include enrolling students from traditionally underrepresented populations. This position will directly supervise a team of Admission Counselors, and contributes to staff professional development and the implementation of dynamic recruitment and yield tactics. Alongside the Director of Admission, this position makes and supports decisions and recommendations, and represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in the University Review Committee. Using extensive knowledge of the holistic admission application review process, this position monitors the process, and provides regular reports and training to members of the University Review Committee and Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
2. Five years of work experience in a higher education setting.
3. Three years of experience in college admissions or related field.
4. Valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience Preferred
Five years or more working in undergraduate admissions at an accredited, non-profit college or university. At least three years of experience in the following areas of recruitment: undergraduate, students from out-of-state, and new markets, and traditionally underrepresented populations. Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented students and communities. Demonstrated success in territory management. Extensive experience reviewing admission applications, with a strong record of making and supporting admissions recommendations and decisions. Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to efficiently review large numbers of applications, with consistent and solid judgment. Three to five years supervisory experience, with the ability to motivate, and develop individual staff with varying levels of experience. Proven experience cultivating and managing relationships with secondary school personnel, and community-based organizations. Preference will be given to candidates who are multilingual.
