  • Dr. Rigoberto J. Rincones-Gómez brings over two decades of national and international leadership experience championing student success, faculty excellence, scholarly activity, and institutional prominence. He has worked in various capacities: teaching at the developmental, undergraduate, and graduate levels; working with external organizations and foundations (e.g., the Gates Foundation, Lumina Foundation for Education, the Kellogg Foundation); collaborating to develop a comprehensive student success agenda driven by the integration of predictive analytics and strategic levers that bolster institutional performance.

    Dr. Rincones has been awarded with several honors and educational scholarships both in Latin America and the United States including the Golden Apple Award for his academic excellence and commitment, and the Rising Star Award for his demonstrated outstanding potential in scholarship, teaching, and professional leadership. He is also nationally and internationally recognized for his collaborative approach and has published more than 50 refereed journal articles, designed and facilitated more than 100 workshops in 10+ countries, and co-authored several books, the most recent, Collaborative Evaluations: Step-by- Step.

    Dr. Rincones’ background also includes a substantial leadership role at the national level while serving as Achieving the Dream (ATD) first National Director of Data Coaching. ATD is the largest comprehensive non-governmental reform network for student success in higher education history, focused on students of color and low-income students. He is a nationally known expert on institutional transformation through the use of evidence and evaluation approaches that bring stakeholder groups together to design effective student success interventions. He currently serves as Assistant Provost within the Academic Affairs Division at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

    Dr. Rincones earned his Ph.D. in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research Design. For this degree, he received a Provost's Special Recognition and an Outstanding Dissertation Award by Phi Delta Kappa Honor Society. As part of his educational background, he also earned his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and his Specialist and Master's degrees in Project Management in Engineering with Summa Cum Laude Honors. Furthermore, he received a President's Special Recognition for his second Master's degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Evaluation, Measurement, and Research Design.
