University of Maryland University College (UMUC), the award-winning global University with more than 92,000 students around the world, seeks an experienced leader to serve as our Senior Vice-Provost, Academic Affairs.
UMUC is a comprehensive public University, with a primary mission devoted to serving adult learners, wherever they are. Over the past decade, the University has successfully integrated online technologies with its delivery of Face-to-face Programs, courses and services, surpassing 100,000 online enrollments.
The Senior Vice-Provost will assist the Provost in leading this unique worldwide academic enterprise. As a key member of the Senior Academic Team, the Senior Vice-Provost is directly responsible for the administration of academic support operations that include: Information and Library Services, Instructional Services, International Programs, Center for Intellectual Property and Student Affairs.
Most importantly, the Senior Vice-Provost will support an Institution-wide strategy for building a strong learning outcomes assessment program, that will be a model for others. The Senior Vice-Provost will serve as an academic chief of staff, collaborating with the heads of UMUC Academic Affairs Units on issues related to academic policy, academic quality, research, Faculty recruitment and training, shared governance and infrastructure. The Senior Vice-Provost will work closely with the Provost to grow strong relationships at local, state and national levels with other universities and institutions, higher education oversight agencies and accrediting bodies.
An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited university; a minimum of (10) years of experience in higher education administration; (7) to (10) years of teaching experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and, excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills are required.
Seasoned experience or leadership in adult continuing higher education, learning outcomes assessment, research, quantitative analysis and grants authoring are preferred.
Qualified candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to mobilize others to fulfill the vision; develop workable implementation plans, communicate changes effectively, build commitment and overcome resistance; develop and adapt strategies to achieve organizational goals; and, review analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data, to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
