Bentley University seeks an energetic, innovative and scholarly academic leader to serve as its Dean of Arts and Sciences.
The Dean will lead an engaged Faculty that is redefining the role of the Arts and Sciences in the education of Business professionals, placing Bentley at the forefront of a movement to meaningfully integrate Liberal Arts strengths into the education of future leaders.
The Dean will work to ensure that the Arts and Sciences remain on the current upward trajectory of excellence in creative and distinctive integration within a Business University, while maintaining discipline specific scholarly and curricular contributions, that are distinguished in both quality and impact.
This opportunity comes at a time of great excitement and optimism at Bentley; the new Dean will join a leadership team that is moving rapidly to extend the University’s extraordinary accomplishments and move it to a higher level of excellence and recognition.
Bentley enrolls approximately 4,000 full-time Undergraduate Students, 1,400 Graduate Students and 40 Doctoral Students and has earned national and international renown and inclusion in a number of popular rankings, including U.S. News and World Report: "America’s Best Colleges 2009" and the 2009 Fiske Guide. The Princeton Review named Bentley one of the nation’s "Best Colleges and Universities" for 2009 and, together with PC Magazine, ranked Bentley #4 in a survey of the "Top 20 Wired Campuses."
The ideal candidate will possess an earned doctoral degree and a distinguished record, appropriate for appointment as a Full Professor; a record of outstanding leadership; an ability to promote, encourage and facilitate excellence in research, teaching and program development; successful experience in the management of people and resources; a willingness to explore grant opportunities with the V-P of Development; a demonstrated commitment to developing a diverse and inclusive community; a successful record of working collaboratively with constituent groups, including Faculty, Staff, students, University Administrators, alumni and community groups; and, a record reflecting integrity and high ethical standards.
