Regional Dean for Division of Nursing

Regional Dean is responsible for the overall academic operations of Schools of Nursing located in his/her specific geographical area. The Regional Dean reports directly to the VP for Nursing and interfaces with National Deans, Regional Vice Presidents, Dean/Director of Nursing. Using a matrix organizational model the Regional Dean collaborates with School Directors and the Regional Vice President to assure that the nursing education provided within assigned schools are of the highest quality.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Maintain professional working relationships with Directors of Nursing, School Directors, Directors of Education, Regional Vice President(s) of assigned Schools as well as with Vice President of Nursing.

2.In collaboration with the School Director(s), Regional Vice President facilitate and monitor the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing programs within assigned schools.

3.In collaboration with the School Director, Director of Education and Director of Nursing in the assigned schools is responsible for insuring nursing programs meet the EA outcome benchmarks for:

a.NCLEX-RN/PN pass rates
b.Nursing student satisfaction
c.Nursing faculty retention
d.Employer satisfaction with graduates
e.Achieving on a consistent and timely basis compliance requirements for nursing faculty and students
f.Obtaining NLNAC accreditation

4.Provide leadership to insure the implementation of an evidence based curriculum, state of the art instruction (including the integration of simulation and point of instruction software such as the use of personal digital assistants/smart phones) and evaluation methodologies
5.Facilitate and coordinate monthly meetings with nursing leadership team in assigned schools including keeping of minutes of meetings, creation and follow-up on action plans as needed to accomplish the mission, goals, and objectives
6.Maintain and communicate monthly updates on NCLEX passing rates in assigned schools
7.Participate as needed in the interview of key nursing faculty candidates being considered for hire and in their retention.
8.Monitoring via the Director of Nursing that adequate clinical agencies are available for students’ learning and that the agreements are current
9.Review in collaboration with the Director of Nursing all teaching and course schedules at assigned schools.
10.Review in collaboration with the Director of Nursing that students selected for admission meet all entrance requirements prior to the start of classes
11.Facilitates as well as collaborate with other EA professional/consultants in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of faculty professional development.
12.Monitor in collaboration with the Director of Nursing that faculty are meeting requirements for faculty development
13.Travel and work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of assigned schools of nursing and as requested other EA activities.
14.Provide insight and direction toward formulation of annual nursing budgets and in the monitoring of expenditures
15.Facilitate communication within assigned schools of also throughout the school, region, and company
16.Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice-President of Nursing

Required Qualifications: MSN degree with at least five years of progressive nursing academic administrative experience as dean or associate dean, and competent in using MS Word and MS Excel, excellent interpersonal skills, able to multi task, organized, and willing to travel at least 60% time.

Desirable Qualification: In addition to the required qualification also have a doctoral degree in nursing or health related.
