Job To Refer:	Center for Research Computing Director Information and Telecommunications Technology Center (ITTC) -- Center for Research Computing (CRC) University of Kansas The University of Kansas is seeking a Center for Research Computing Director. As a senior staff member reporting to the Information and Telecommunications Technology Center (ITTC) Director and the Deputy Technology Officer (DTO), the Center for Research Computing Director will play a leadership role in computing that supports research across the University. In conjunction with senior IT management from KU Information Technology (KUIT), Research and Graduate Studies (RGS) and ITTC, the Director will assume a leadership role in the Center for Research Computing (CRC) and Advanced Computing Facility (ACF), helping establish the overall direction of research computing services university-wide, their suitability to meet research objectives and their ongoing development and evolution. This includes long-term strategic planning, leading overall technology architecture discussions, as well as contributing to tactical projects, such as the community cluster and research storage programs. As a part of the duties listed, the CRC Director will: contribute to strategic thinking and planning; maintain a university-wide view of IT technologies and services; ensure that KU has the best research computing infrastructure available; help build consensus on architectures; be a steward of innovation and incubate solutions that exploit technical breakthroughs; participate in proposal writing and extramural funding activities; and, promote the well-being of the research community at KU. The CRC Director will work collaboratively with KUIT leadership, Research Center Directors, Core Service Lab Directors, Deans and RGS leadership to accomplish these goals. Required Qualifications: Master's degree or higher, in a field related to high-performance computing; 5 years of broad information technology experience with increasing responsibility, in an academic setting; Experience with research technology, in particular: a) high-performance computing, grid computing, high-performance and archival data storage and visualization; b) program development; c) understanding of networking issues; and, d) collaborative technologies; Experience with: a) specialized research software applications; b) databases and large data sets; c) research computing standards and practices; and, d) emerging research computing technologies and infrastructures; Experience supporting researchers in a university setting; Experience in program planning, management and evaluation; Project management skills; Effective management skills, as demonstrated by professional experiences and letters of recommendation; Strong analytical skills; Exceptional oral and written communication skills; and, a record of active participation in sponsored research and development, relevant to research computing.
