Dean of the College of Nursing
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for the position of Dean of the College of Nursing. Focused on meeting the diverse needs of Wisconsin’s largest metropolitan area, the mission of UWM, a major urban doctoral institution, is to provide a wide array of degree programs, a balanced program of applied and basic research, and a faculty who are active in public service. UWM has placed a special emphasis on its health-related research, teaching, and outreach missions and is promoting opportunities for collaboration and growth across health-related campus entities. UWM enrolls about 26,000 students in 14 schools and colleges. Of the total enrollment, about 4,600 are graduate students. The Dean of the College of Nursing reports directly to the Provost of the University, and will provide visionary leadership for the College of Nursing while serving as the chief administrative and academic officer. Areas of responsibility include: leadership in research, programmatic development and leadership at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and community outreach. The Dean provides leadership for the College and exercises responsibility for its academic and administrative operations, including personnel, budget, programs, physical facilities, research, professional practice, and educational programs; develops extramural funding by fundraising and through alumni relations; and builds and maintains strong relationships with external constituents; works well with partners across campus, the nursing workforce, and the broader community; and effectively represents the College within the University and the University within local, state, national, and global networks.
The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. or D.N.Sc. degree with qualifications for appointment as a tenured full professor in the College of Nursing; have proven leadership and administrative experience in an accredited school/college of nursing; and be eligible for RN licensure in the state of Wisconsin.
