The College of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences (Pomona, California) seeks a full-time faculty member and academic administrator to lead personnel management in a diverse teaching, research and accredited academic enterprise. Founded in 1998, the College graduated the first DVM class in 2007. Western University of Health Sciences consists of 9 health professions graduate colleges forming a private, non-profit university that has established a robust national presence through innovation and humanism. The health science university concept encourages inter-professional faculty collaboration; the programs of the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) benefit from interaction with the other colleges on the campus and partner institutions in the greater Los Angeles area.
The Executive Associate Dean will provide senior administrative leadership on all aspects of the administration of the College, and encourage professional development consistent with the mission, goals and founding principles of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Some examples of the essential job duties include:
- Advises the Dean in regards to the budget, personnel, students, and operations within the college
- Supports an environment of collegiality and serve as a liaison with the University and external constituents
- Facilitates all MOUs and MOAs between the college and other parties and initial leader for new initiatives
- Curate key college documents such as Strategic Plan, Accreditation Documents, Promotion & Tenure, etc.
- Manage areas of professional/graduate education such as instructional technology and distance education
Candidates are expected to qualify for and to the CVM Faculty and may have teaching and service responsibilities in addition to the administrative role. The DVM degree or Ph.D. degree, or their equivalent, a professional degree and postgraduate degree and/or specialty certification preferred. The successful candidate must have demonstrated administrative success, experience in accreditation, assessment, and educational technology, evidence of successful consensus building, and demonstrated a commitment to community, campus alliances and relationships, along with fostering inclusivity and collegiality.
