The Assistant Dean for Admissions will provide leadership in recruitment, admission, and matriculation of prospective medical students into the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The Assistant Dean will work closely with the Associate Dean of Admissions, Director of Admissions and the Admissions Administrative Assistant. This individual will also work collaboratively with the Office of Medical Education. The Assistant Dean for Admissions will report directly to the Associate Dean of Admissions.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of a comprehensive recruitment and admissions plan.
Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee and Screening, Interviewing, Selection, and the Wait List Subcommittees.
Assist in coordination and management of the WebadMIT by
AMCAS platform.
Evaluate and recommend applicants through screening applications and by conducting interviews.
Assist in training the Admissions Committee (faculty, staff, students, community members) on holistic review, curriculum, and any developments regarding policy changes or new initiatives.
Represent the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on a regional basis and participate in on and off-campus events for the purpose of recruitment.
Assist in selecting and training Student Ambassadors to help with admissions and recruitment efforts.
Assist in scholarship process in partnership with the Office of Resource Management, Office of Financial Aid, and the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty, administrators, current students, and alumni; solicit their participation in recruiting and/or outreach events.
Become proficient in admissions portal (WebadMIT for
AMCAS) and other systems including
SLATE and
HUB systems.
Assist in the response to communications with prospective students.
Engage and collaborate with community partners.
Participate in regional and national professional conferences.
Perform other relevant duties as needed and assigned by the Dean of Admissions.
