LOCATION: The LSU Agricultural Center is a statewide organization with offices in every parish of Louisiana. The administrative headquarters, including the Human Resource Management Office, are located in Baton Rouge.

About the LSU Agricultural Center: The LSU AgCenter, is one of nine campuses within the broader LSU enterprise (LSU System). The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 "on campus" academic departments and five regions which are made up of 17 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish. Administratively aligned with the AgCenter is the LSU A&M campus’s College of Agriculture which oversees the teaching function. Many AgCenter faculty hold joint appointments with the College of Agriculture so coordination is important.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Human Resource Manager serves as the Human Resource lead on all employee benefits offered by the AgCenter. Ensures the LSU AgCenter is in compliance with all reporting and activity requirements related to benefits and retirement. Provides accurate and timely benefit and retirement data and recording. Counsels employees on all benefits: dental, life, medical, retirement, vision, and tax saver plan. The AgCenter has several hundred retirees under the federal retirement system. This position is responsible for administration of CSRS (federal retirement) for all active and retired employees as there are no local or state offices. Updates and maintains necessary information for insurance and retirement benefits. Researches and communicates any benefit related issues, updates, or changes that affect the AgCenter employees and retirees. Provides assistance with workers’ compensation claim process and leave re-credits. Structures and delivers open enrollment and all related benefits communications to employees. Produces benefits newsletters for distribution to current employees. Updates and drafts benefits related HR policies, procedures, forms and, instructional materials. Serves as liaison with outside providers (e.g., Group Benefits, state retirement systems, OPM, etc.). Represents the AgCenter for the benefits function.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of Human Resource experience or closely related field. Experience in working with various key stakeholders. Must be able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and action plans. Strong mathematical and analytical capabilities required. Initiative to investigate and proceed with new ideas, projects and process improvements. Focused leadership with the ability to influence and move decisions forward. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with employees at all levels: exempt and non-exempt and at all locations, statewide. Superior oral and written communication skills with prior experience delivering information to broad and diverse audiences. Preferred: Benefit experience; higher education experience; advanced degree.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options.
