Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student Programs

Position Overview
The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student Programs (DEI) for the KU School of Business is responsible for managing and enhancing existing DEI programs and for increasing the School’s portfolio of DEI related activities. The purpose of DEI initiatives is to recruit and mentor students from underrepresented populations at KU and the School of Business, with the goal of increasing recruitment, retention, academic performance, and graduation of such students. Existing programs include the Multicultural Business Scholars Program (MBSP) and the Summer Business Venture program. This is a 1.0 FTE 12-month appointment reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs.

Job Description
50% Program Management:

  • Work in cooperation with the University’s Multicultural Scholars Program (MSP), University Admissions, the Dean’s Office, the Business Advising Center, Business Career Services, and School of Business faculty and staff
  • Oversee the operations and strategic development of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Student Programs to meet the needs of the University mission, School goals and objectives
  • Manage the MBSP and Summer Venture program budgets and enhance financial sustainability
  • Oversee curriculum development workshops, presentation of seminars, programing and development of projects
  • Cultivate relations with external partners to help fund and deliver student programming

45% Recruitment & Student Support:

  • Deliver the Summer Business Venture Program targeted at high school students
  • Recruit students from underrepresented populations at KU and the School of Business
  • Process program and scholarship applications
  • Provide structured mentoring to students to enhance their educational success
  • Design and structure co-curricular enrichment activities for students
  • Develop and report on key performance indicators, such as student engagement, retention, grade point averages, progress toward degree, graduation, and post-graduation outcomes
  • Engage with communities whose populations are underrepresented at KU

5%-Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs
    Required Qualifications
    Master’s degree in business, education, psychology, counseling, communications, or related field.
    Experience of two or more years as an administrator for diversity initiatives at the post-secondary level.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Ph.D. in business or related field.
    Experience in community engagement.
    Successful record of teaching in business related fields at the post-secondary level.
