Gettysburg College, a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with 2,600 students located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania, approximately one hour from Baltimore and Washington, D.C., seeks qualified candidates for a Major Gifts Officer position within the Division of Development, Alumni and Parent Relations.

This Major Gifts Officer is a member of the major gifts team. This team works closely with colleagues within the division and across campus – planned giving, research, annual giving, alumni and parent relations, donor relations and stewardship, are a few examples. The major gifts team is responsible for managing the on-going qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects (alumni, parents, and friends). The position is assigned 150 – 175 prospects in a geographical region who have the financial capacity to make major gifts ($50,000 or more). Major Gifts Officers travel extensively within their assigned regions to meet with donors and prospects, and devise and execute strategies for engagement, solicitation and stewardship. The preferred candidate joins the College on the heels of a successful $150 million comprehensive campaign. The expectation is to continue the trajectory of fundraising success by securing funds in support of the initiatives outlined in the College’s strategic plan.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. At least four years of successful experience in major gifts fundraising or the equivalent is strongly preferred. Other relevant relationship management and fundraising experience will be considered. Experience with parent fundraising is desirable, as well as experience with planned giving. The preferred candidate will possess the ability to develop and implement effective cultivation and solicitation strategies that result in matching the donors’ needs and interest with philanthropic opportunities for financial support at the College. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in promoting Gettysburg’s fundraising priorities through the development of excellent relationships with college leadership, campus partners, faculty, trustees, volunteers and the Development, Alumni and Parent Relations team. A demonstrated ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds is an integral part of this position. The successful candidate will possess the skills necessary to adapt to a variety of cross-cultural situations, settings and circumstances that are intrinsic to development work. Organizational and time management skills are essential as is the ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently. Professional conduct and appropriate handling of confidential information is required. Must have a valid drivers license, as driving is an essential function of the position.

Please visit our website to submit application materials through our on-line system: http://gettysburg.peopleadmin.com/postings/2611.

Application materials must be received by June 8, 2018.
