Embry-Riddle is seeking a Director of Development at the Daytona Beach campus. The Director of Development solicits major gifts on behalf of the University. This position will be responsible for the strategic and effective management of a portfolio of current and prospective donors through identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. The director will engage in face-to-face visits and execute an effective moves management system in order to transition each prospect from the identification to the stewardship stage.The Director will identify major gifts prospects through research, cold calls, individual meetings with past donors and volunteers, and planned cultivation events; maintain active awareness of prospects at all stages of cultivation and solicitation; and focus on the development of prospects in specified regions as assigned. The Director of Development will develop long range, comprehensive cultivation strategies and timetables; arrange appropriate opportunities for the faculty to meet with potential donors; create and manage a portfolio of major donor prospects.The Director of Development will assist in developing and executing long and short term strategies to secure major gifts from individuals, alumni, corporation and foundation, and other entities; prepare effective written proposals, correspondence, and/or materials for use in specific solicitations; participate in the solicitation and arrange for the involvement of the dean or other academic leaders, when appropriate; and evaluate various gift opportunities and giving vehicles and recommend the most suitable for particular donors. He/she will strive to meet the goals of the annual fundraising plan at the 100% mark with regard to visits, proposals submitted, and gifts closed. The Director of Development will, in coordination with the Assistant Director of Donor Relations, provide appropriate and timely stewardship to major donors and serve as a resource for their engagement with centers, faculty, administrators, and students. The Director of Development will provide counsel to faculty, directors, and department chairs with regard to prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation acknowledgement, and recognition; actively engage the faculty’s participation, commitment, and understanding of the fundraising process; and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Executive Director of Development.
