Director of Academic Computing

ABOUT AIC
American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Education. The mission of the College is to transform student lives through career focused learning, with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, a commitment to serving the community, and a high level of involvement in the global economy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Administer, coordinate services for, and provide ongoing support of a variety of educational technology systems including, but not limited to, the learning management system, lecture capture, video-on-demand, assessment management system and online readiness and quality measurement tools.
Manage instructional design training, support and quality for online courses and programs. Facilitate the measurements in place for Quality Matters, OLC scorecard in collaboration with the Distance Ed Advisory Group, the CIO and EVPAA.
Plan, deploy, and support classroom-based technologies.
Manage staff of Academic Computing and Media Services, including the oversight of student workers and graduate assistants.
Develop, present, and coordinate faculty workshops and programs in collaboration with key offices
Provide leadership, strategic planning, and ongoing support in the use of emerging educational technologies and alternative pedagogies in collaboration with key offices
Provide leadership, strategic planning, and ongoing support in the development of online education policies, procedures, and programs in collaboration with key offices
Assist in developing an up-to-date environment for student and faculty computing labs
Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures regarding academic software and hardware, database access, copyright and license compliance, backups, system security, project plans, and status reports

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Degree(s): Master’s degree in Instructional Technology / Computer Science or related field
Preferred Degree(s): Doctoral or Master’s degree in Instructional Technology / Computer Science or related field
Required Field of Expertise: Five (5) years of experience in delivering computing, information, and instructional technology support services
Preferred Field of Expertise: Five (5) years of experience in instructional technology, multimedia, and instructional design experience; Experience in Higher Education working with faculty and students
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of application software and hardware used to support instruction
Skilled in web-based, instructional design, and multimedia technologies
Skilled in project management
Skilled in interpersonal, supervisory, analytical, and written/verbal communication
Knowledge of emerging trends in instructional technology and alternative pedagogies
Knowledge of emerging trends in online programs, institutional readiness, instructional quality and measurement.

WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, flexible to the needs of the department. Occasional nights and weekends required.
