The University of St. Thomas invites qualified candidates to apply for a Director of Global Outreach position within the School of Law.
In collaboration with the Dean, the Assistant Dean for Admissions, and the Deputy to the Dean for International Legal Studies, the Director of Global Outreach will create and execute a plan aimed at recruiting foreign-trained lawyers for the School of Law. The majority of recruits will enter the LLM in US Law program, which currently enrolls between 20 and 25 students per year, and some recruits may enter the JD program with advanced standing. This role will require the stewardship of the law school’s partnerships with key foreign law schools, oversight of the law school’s overseas network of commission-based recruiters, extensive communication with prospective students, and some foreign travel.
Designs and implements recruitment strategies for the program including marketing, advertising, and travel. Conducts market research and provides recommendations on target markets in order to achieve enrollment targets. Serves as the law school’s primary point person for prospective international students, cultivating relationships through various means of communication. Coordinates partnerships with select foreign law schools, exploring faculty exchanges, scholarly collaborations, and joint projects.
Participates in the admissions process for the program. This would include assisting with the collection of application documents, reviewing applications as part of an admissions committee, interviewing candidates, assisting admissions with communicating decisions to applicants, and engaging in initiatives related to yield.
Participates in planning orientation and arrival processes for LLM students; serves as liaison to university’s international student services.

BA or LLB Degree required
Minimum 5 years professional experience, including experience developing and managing programs
JD or LLM Degree
Experience in International student recruitment or sales
Experience working with foreign faculty members, students, or lawyers
Ability to speak more than one language
Special Skills: Requires enthusiasm for working with foreign students, knowledge of principles and best practices in student recruitment; excellent judgment, efficient organization skills, written and oral communication skills, an ability to conceive and execute creative recruitment strategies, and a high level of responsibility.
