CSULB is a teaching-intensive, research-driven, diverse and globally engaged public university committed to providing exceptional undergraduate and graduate educational opportunities through superior teaching, research, creative activity and service for the people of California and the world. CSULB transforms lives by expanding educational opportunities, championing creativity and preparing leaders for a changing world. The university is remarkable for the extraordinary commitment among administrators, staff, faculty, students and community to the institution and its mission. The vice president for administration and finance reports directly to the president and provides vision, leadership and oversight of a large and diverse service operation that supports the academic mission of the university. The VPAF serves as the chief financial officer for the campus and advises the president, provost and other senior-level administrators on all campus-wide financial and resource matters, fiscal planning and policy, budget, space and facilities management and other key administrative functions. The VPAF is a key member of the president’s senior leadership team and oversees the divisions of Financial Management, Administration and Finance, Human Resource Management, Physical Planning & Facilities Management and University Police. The VPAF also works in close coordination with CSULB’s two foundations, the 49er Foundation and the Research Foundation, as well as sits on the Board of Directors for the 49er Shops. The VPAF also collaborates with faculty and staff through the shared governance structure of CSULB.

California State University, Long Beach seeks an innovative and service-oriented financial leader with an entrepreneurial spirit to manage, advance and strengthen the campus’s resources and provide creative solutions to administrative challenges and campus-wide projects with the ultimate goal of student success. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of leading and managing a similarly sized and complex portfolio of budget, financial and administrative responsibilities, preferably within a higher education institution and a collective bargaining environment. The incoming VPAF should be a strong communicator with superb change management skills and possess a collaborative leadership style with integrity and values consistent with the California State University System, its mission and its focus on student success. An appropriate graduate degree is preferred with a minimum of 10-15 years of directly related experience in progressively responsible senior-level financial and administrative management positions.
