Kean, a comprehensive New Jersey state university, is seeking an Assistant to the President for its additional instructional location in Wenzhou, China. Wenzhou is one of the most vibrant and economically advanced cities on China’s East Coast, located one hour by plane and just over three hours by high-speed train from Shanghai. Launched in 2012, Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) sits on approximately 500 beautiful acres and is now in the midst of a growth phase that will bring enrollment to more than 5,000 students. WKU offers a unique model of higher education provided by a comprehensive, public University, approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

The Assistant to the President (Director II) reports to the President and works closely with Deans, Vice Presidents and the President to participate in the management and coordination of all operational areas related to Wenzhou-Kean University as assigned. The responsibilities of this position require an innovative, well-rounded manager with a strong acumen for coordinating many different diverse projects at once. The individual selected will be required to coordinate academic programming, student services, financial transactions and related operational issues that require full integration and cooperation between the Kean USA location and the Wenzhou, China campus. This position is located at the Kean USA campus in Union, New Jersey, but international travel is required as the employee will spend time at the Wenzhou, China campus. Travel may also be required to the WKU campus on short notice.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of four years of high-level managerial experience is required. A doctorate degree is preferred. Other preferred qualifications include potential for success; a commitment to aggressively move forward; the capacity to convert challenges into opportunities; creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit; a commitment to global education; and appreciation of cultural diversity. A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally to China is also required.
