Program Director

Location: Boise

Division/College: College of Education, Health & Human Sciences

Employee Category: Exempt

Pay Range: $45,492 per year or higher depending on experience

Full/Part Time: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Outreach and Engagement Director is given the authority to conceptualize, implement, and administer a program of educational opportunity and complementary services for the assigned community. This program includes: engaging with the community and invested members, managing the operations of the project, investigating the efficacy of project services through reflective practice and data inquiry, and disseminating the investigation findings and program results to a broad audience. The Project Director must ensure, through the implementation of an intentional program of year-round services that: the project contributes to the development of the community's interests as well as those of its individual members, and that programing results are understood and disseminated for the purposes of community inspection, policy development, and practice improvement.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 7+ years
Knowledge of: local, state, and federal laws relating to the program/project area; computer operation and software programs; program planning and implementation; conducting independent research; designing and conducting training programs; and providing liaison with customer/provider groups
Experience: developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures and recommending changes; developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals or rules/regulations; providing technical program assistance to staff; gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts; devising solutions to problems; writing concise reports, and developing and evaluating policies and procedures
Ability to: travel, work weekends, summers, after regular business hours and holidays
Ability to manage, organize, coordinate and implement programming (e.g. immersive academic experiences, scholar and professional development retreats/camps, and supervised academic travel for participants)
Must: Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.*

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters degree in related field with experience in managing educational opportunity programs
Knowledge of the cultural complexity of the target population
Experience in coordinating, administrating and managing programs
Experience and skills in conducting research, data inquiry, and reflective practice
Teaching and/or counseling experience with non-traditional, under prepared or disadvantaged students at the middle, high school, or college level
Teaching in a non-dominant discipline
Strong apparent knowledge of concepts and factors related to academic and career advising including financial assistance and college admissions.
Strong supervisory/leadership skills; interpersonal and communication skills; computer skills
Experience with TRIO programs and/or similar programs

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Requires: a valid motor vehicle operators license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles; ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary and travel.

Regular work week hours, 8:00-5:00 with occasional evening and weekend flexibility
