We are looking for a Development Manager for InstituteQ, Department of Applied Physics 
 
InstituteQ is a joint organization of Aalto University, VTT and University of Helsinki in the field of Quantum Technologies. Its role is to raise the readiness of Finnish society for the disruptive potential and implications quantum technologies will have for society and the economy at large.

Your role and goals  
 
The Development Manager will be responsible for strategic planning and operational management of InsituteQ and fostering collaborations in the field of quantum technology. Development Manager also acts as a contact person for the institute, organizes activities that strengthens key research areas and helps smaller research initiatives grow larger. You are capable to form technology and research policy agenda and follow actively development in Finland and globally. As a manager, you promote the visibility of multiple research areas and cooperation between the organizations involved in the institute, and you also maintain good relationships with external partners. You act as a contact point and mediator for external and internal communication and networking and community building. You work in the institute’s Executive Team, organize meetings and collaborate with international partners.  
 
Your responsibilities include: 
  • overseeing the strategic planning, development, budgeting and reporting of InstituteQ at Aalto, under the academic director’s supervision 
  • organizing and ensuring the continuity of operational support functions and supervising support service personnel in a matrix organization 
  • handling procurement and contracts for collaborative projects 
  • promoting international collaborations 
  • finding and proposing new initiatives (also funding opportunities) and collaborating with research infrastructures such as OtaNano 
  • participating actively in writing and coordinating major research projects stemming from InstituteQ players (Centres of Excellence, Finnish Quantum Flagship, infrastructure applications) 


The role may also include other tasks depending on your experience and interest.  
  
  Your experience and ambitions 
  • Doctoral degree from a relevant field 
  • Solid understanding of research activities and their support processes    
  • Good understanding of quantum technologies and their disruptive potential 
  • Cooperation skills, networking ability and service orientation  
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills    
  • Excellent communication skills    
  • Fluent written and spoken English and basic Finnish language skills (capability to follow meetings and events in Finnish is a plus)  
  • You are flexible and open to new things and communicate actively. 

 
 You can keep many balls in the air at the same time and make sure things get done by the deadline. We appreciate previous experience in organizing high level events and coordinating strategic communication on multiple channels.

The employment is full-time and the salary range for this position starts from approximately 5000€/month and you can provide your own salary request.
