Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is looking to hire a Director for First Year Programs.  The Director, in coordination with the Assistant Dean of Retention and Parent/Student Programs will assist in the oversight of a staff of five.  The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of programs designed to enhance the students’ overall experience at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University through academic advisement and referral assistance for first year students. The Director supervises the Instructional and Training Coordinator, academic advisors, student assistants, and tutors within First Year Programs including recruiting, hiring, evaluation, and professional development of all employees. With the support of the Instructional and Training Coordinator, the Director is responsible for ERAU-DB’s College Success course (UNIV 101) as well as development of curriculum, assessment, hiring, and training of all instructors and peer mentors for the course.  The Director will also assist the Assistant Dean of Retention and Parent/Student Programs with the development of advising and retention strategies for ERAU-DB. The Director will also oversee the department’s budget, communications, marketing and serve as a support, resource and liaison for all programs and campus partners involved in the student advisement process.

Duties include the following:

Responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of advisement and student success programs for First Year Students.
Provide leadership, supervise, and evaluate the Instructional and Training Coordinator, academic advisors, student assistants, and tutors within First Year Programs. 
Coordinates the collaboration and communications with campus partners in the development of services and assistance in the support of advising, student success, and retention.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the First Year Programs budget.
Provide support to the Instructional and Training Coordinator and team in the recruitment, selection and training of Instructors and Peer Mentors for UNIV 101.
Tracks student enrollment and retention statistics, to further ccoordinate efforts to increase consistency and to improve student success and retention.
Develops and tracks at-risk students and engage in appropriate proactive intervention to increase retention.
Advises students and teaches UNIV101 and/or mentors UNIV 101 instructors as necessary.
Develop and implement marketing and recruitment strategies designed to advance the advising and success of First Year Students.
Under the guidance of the Assistant Dean of Retention and Parent/Student Programs, the Director will be responsible for the supervision of the Instructional and Training Coordinator, academic advisors, student assistants, and tutors within First Year Programs including recruiting, hiring, evaluation, and professional development of all employees in First Year Programs.
