Reporting to the Chancellor of Pima Community College, the Special Assistant to the Chancellor is responsible for providing high-level support to the Chancellor, which includes overseeing complex and sensitive special projects that have College-wide impact, accompanying the Chancellor to meetings and events, and representing the College on behalf of the Chancellor. This position is responsible for conducting research, authoring speeches and presentations, and preparing materials to brief the Chancellor prior to meetings and events with internal and external constituents and stakeholders.
The Special Assistant to the Chancellor may serve as the Chancellor's , liaison to the business, professional, community and governmental groups, College's executive leadership team, administrators, staff, faculty, students and the Governing Board as directed by the Chancellor.
This position will also be responsible for identifying critical issues confronting the College and provides consultation to the Chancellor.
A flexible work schedule outside of normal business hours will be required for this position. Travel will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the liaison to the community, governmental groups, College offices, faculty, staff and students on behalf of the Chancellor
Oversight to ensure ongoing engagement between the Chancellor and local, state, and national legislators, lobbyists, and other governmental representatives
Facilitate the ability of the Chancellor to manage executive functions by advising the Chancellor regarding key constituencies; provide research, context, and background information on issues and people
Oversee and coordinate special projects and initiatives assigned by the Chancellor
Author and prepare speeches, presentations, materials and other communication on behalf of the Chancellor for meetings and/or events; review correspondence; use of social media tools including, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.
Respond to inquiries from internal and external constituencies and refer inquiries or concerns to the appropriate office or person; resolve problems
Contribute to the overall success of the Office of the Chancellor by performing fact-finding and troubleshooting activities in areas of special interest to the Chancellor and serve as the Chancellor's ambassador to internal and external constituents, as directed
Serve as a key member of the Chancellor's executive staff and is responsible for the central coordination of activities, including, but not limited to, planning and operations, and ensure timely flow of information to and from the Office of the Chancellor
Work closely with Governing Board, at the direction of the Chancellor, to handle Board priorities, policies, procedures, and other obligations
Perform other duties as assigned by the Chancellor
Bachelor's degree in Public Affairs, Business, Education, or other field related to area of assignment and
Five (5) years of progressive public affairs, business or management experience including oversight and management of complex, sensitive projects with College-wide impact and
Experience providing top-level operational management; analysis, and policy development in a highly complex enterprise
Experience in a university or multi-campus/multi-site community college system

Research methods; compile and analyze data; researching industry trends, solutions and best practices; author, prepare, edit reports
Exceptional organizational skills
Strong attention to detail
Leadership, managerial, supervisor principles
Possess excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with internal and external constituencies to sufficiently exchange or convey information
Reading, analyzing, evaluating, interpreting and summarizing written materials and statistical data
Providing quality, exceptional customer service
