Brandeis International Business School is hiring for a Director of Development. The Director of Development is responsible for the fundraising programs of the International Business School. This is a strategic position that involves maximizing the effectiveness of the Dean and the International Business School faculty through coaching, coordinating all fundraising actions related to donors and prospects assigned to the International Business School, drafting letters, donor cultivation and stewardship, and assisting in planning and running meetings with officers of the International Business School and in conjunction with events to raise the visibility and awareness of the School’s mission. S/he will closely coordinate with and take instruction from the University Institutional Advancement office regarding funding strategy, stewardship and donor relations, prospect management and gift processing. S/he will develop time lines and strategic moves and ensure appropriate and timely follow-up with identified prospects in addition to maintaining excellent relations with International Business School faculty. Exceptional writing skills and a collaborative working style required. The Director of Development will report to the Dean of the International Business School, with an additional reporting relationship to the University Institutional Advancement office.

With the Dean as partner, directs Fundraising at the International Business School. Develops ideas, identifies prospects, visits prospects, sets up meetings with appropriate faculty and administration of both the International Business School and the University. Includes preparation, cultivation and solicitation, and follow up with prospects and donors.
Develops written proposals, talking points for others including the Dean for events, correspondence, works on fundraising campaigns organized by the University but also ones particular to the International Business School that involve fundraising around a specific program or idea.
Leads development activities at the International Business School, including supervising development and alumni-related staff.

8+ years of total work-related experience
8+ years of supervisory/management experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

Must have proficiency with computers and the ability to use all alumni and donor data bases in the execution of the job. Must have strong relational, collaborative, and team work skills for both internal and external relations. Must have strategic planning skills, excellent judgment, facility with financial data, tolerance of ambiguity, and flexibility in work hours as well as the ability to switch strategies when needed. An attitude of doing what it takes to get the job done is paramount.
Leadership skills are needed in order to build confidence in those around including the Dean and donors to the School. Must have a track record of cultivating and closing gifts in six and seven figures and working as part of a team that accomplishes closing of major gifts.

The job involves building relationships with external and internal players necessary to accomplish the job. A person who understands and appreciates different perspectives, not only personal, but also by position will be someone who can deal successfully with these job demands.
